Cuando era niña, siempre esperaba con ilusión el 6 de enero. Para muchos de mis amigos, las celebraciones de Navidad habían terminado y Santa Claus ya estaba de vuelta en el Polo Norte ocupado preparándose para la siguiente temporada navideña. Para mis hermanas y para mí, y para muchos otros en la comunidad latina, los regalos no se habían acabado ya que todavía quedaba por celebrar el Día de los Tres Reyes Magos. Y este año no es diferente.

No obstante, este año, mientras la temporada de hacer y recibir regalos continúa, hay un regalo especial disponible ya mismo: el acceso a una cobertura de seguro de salud para millones de latinos a través del Mercado de Seguros Médicos.

Todos los años, nuestra familia celebraba esta fiesta religiosa reuniéndose en la casa de uno de nuestros seres queridos, intercambiando historias sobre la temporada navideña y disfrutando de algunas delicias como chocolate caliente y rosca de reyes. Este año, si se reúne con sus familiares y amigos para disfrutar de una rosca de reyes, asegúrese de hablar sobre la importancia de tener una cobertura de seguro de salud y sobre cómo encontrarla en el Mercado de Seguros Médicos. Los consumidores pueden solicitar cobertura en el Mercado de diferentes maneras: en línea en HealthCare.gov o CuidadodeSalud.gov; por teléfono, llamando al centro de servicio al cliente con atención las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana (1-800-318-2596, TTY 1-855-889-4325 disponible en inglés y español, y con traducción en otros 150 idiomas); con la ayuda de una persona capacitada de su comunidad local (Encuentre ayuda local); o enviando una solicitud impresa por correo postal. Siempre estábamos ansiosos el Día de los Tres Reyes Magos por ver quién encontraba la estatuilla del bebé Jesús escondida en la rosca. ¡Después de todo, siempre se esperaba que quien la encontrara hiciera otra fiesta el 2 de febrero, Día de la Candelaria! Este año, para muchas de las personas recientemente aseguradas, será la primera vez que podrán encontrar la seguridad que conlleva tener una cobertura de salud y podrán olvidarse de la ansiedad y la preocupación que conlleva no tenerla. En total, se han inscrito 6 millones de personas para recibir cobertura en el Mercado de Seguros Médicos o en Medicaid desde que se abrió la inscripción en el Mercado de Seguros Médicos. Durante las celebraciones del Día de los Tres Reyes Magos, animemos a quienes sabemos que se han inscrito recientemente para que llamen para programar su primera cita médica antes del 2 de febrero. Los consumidores con preguntas acerca de su nueva cobertura de salud privada que comenzó el 1 de enero, pueden ponerse en contacto con su compañía de seguros directamente o leer estos consejos para consumidores. Cuando llegue el momento de la fiesta, usted puede celebrar haber hecho su cita.
